Jones 2019 InaugurationCHICAGO To help get the health of Illinoisans back on track, State Senator Emil Jones, III (D-Chicago) is thrilled to announce a COVID-19 vaccination site has opened in Robbins.

“I encourage everyone who is eligible to get the vaccine,” Jones said. “We have waited nearly a year to get to this point. The sooner people get the vaccine, the sooner we can get back to normal and put this pandemic, and all the hardships it caused, behind us.”

The site opened this week at Robbins Health Center, located at 13450 S. Kedzie Ave., and its hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

As of today, only health care workers will be able to go get vaccinated. However, the next phase starts Monday, and people who are 65 and over or frontline essential workers will also be eligible for vaccination. Frontline essential workers include teachers, postal service workers and first responders, among others. Supplies will be limited, and residents will need to make an appointment before going.

“It is vital that we continue to protect the communities who were the most disadvantaged throughout this pandemic,” Jones said. “This is the best way to ensure there is equity and inclusion throughout this road toward getting our state back to normal.“
