Senator Emil Jones III is the son of former Illinois Senate President Emil Jones Jr. and the late Patricia Jones. He has accomplished making his own mark in the Illinois General Assembly.
Jones grew up on the far South Side of Chicago. Before beginning his career in the Illinois Senate, Jones served as a member of the advisory board of the Division Street Business Development Association. He had worked previously as an administrator at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
A distinct and outstanding voice for increased public safety standards, Jones has gone above and beyond in his efforts to make Illinois neighborhoods and their streets safer. Jones has championed bettering the quality of life and improving the security of neighborhoods throughout the state, specifically with passing legislation targeted at reducing gang recruitment.
Jones also has fought for legislation to clearly define stalking and cyberstalking. He has pursued adapting the state criminal stalking statute for the 21st century digital age, ensuring that the current cyberbullying epidemic and use of technology for harassment is addressed.
Jones has frequently been recognized for his effective leadership and unwavering dedication to his 14th Senate District constituents.
